Lancaster Delta Waterfowl Chapter - Habitat Page

Local Habitat Efforts

The Lancaster Chapter of Delta Waterfowl knows the importance of conservation. Each year we run multiple projects that aid in getting more birds in the skies. This is done through clean-up days, building and installing nesting structures and habitat improvement efforts. Predator management is also a big part of the conservation picture. If you are interested in supporting waterfowl and the quality of nature in your local community, please contact us and we will get you involved. We are also looking for new project ideas. Nesting Structures

We just completed a Wood Duck Box Build on Feb. 26th.  15 new boxes were constructed and 5 additional ones were prepared for the field.  The chapter will be organizing an installation day for the Susquehanna river as soon as the ice breaks up.  Please contact us if you have a good location for a box or would like to assist with the installation.  The installation and maintenance of nesting structures is an integral part to the Delta Waterfowl Foundation's conservation plan.

Hen Tubes Away

10 Hen Tubs are ready to be installed thanks to the hard work of our Conservation Director Shawn and chapter members.  With a good plan, a few hand and some jokes the build went without a hitch and everyone had fun.  If you are interested in building your own hen tube click below for the plans.  Happy Building!

Scout Project Supports Delta

The local Cub Scout Pack 105 just completed a Wood Duck build with the support of the Lancaster Chapter of Delta Waterfowl.  This partnership allowed the youth to learn about waterfowl conservation while working to achieving a badge and the chapter added 4 more boxes to their inventory for this year's projects.  Thanks for the support!
